Shimla, 01 September 2026: Shri Bhupender Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director, SJVN Ltd. has congratulated the employees and all stakeholders on successful completion of 72-hour trial run operation of 660 MW Unit-2 of 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project in Bihar on 31st August, 2026.
Sh. Bhupender Gupta further highlighted that with successful completion of the trial run, company is now all set for Commercial Operation of Unit-2.
Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma, Director (Personnel), SJVN, emphasized that successful 72-hour trial run of Unit-2 marks another significant milestone in SJVN’s journey. He congratulated the entire team for their relentless hard work, professionalism and unwavering commitment despite various challenges.
Sh. Parthajit De, Director (Finance), SJVN, also extended his congratulations to all and highlighted that successful trial run of Unit-2 further strengthens SJVN’s generation portfolio and reinforces its position as a multidimensional energy company contributing to India’s energy growth.
Sh. Rajesh Kumar Chandel, Director (Projects), SJVN, congratulated employees and appreciated the concerted efforts made towards completion of the unit and stated that it is a significant achievement in SJVN’s thermal power journey.
The 1320 MW Buxar Thermal Power Project, being implemented by SJVN Thermal Private Limited (STPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN, is based on state-of-the-art supercritical technology, ensuring higher efficiency and reduced environmental impact. The project comprises two units of 660 MW each and is equipped with advanced emission control technology to minimize its environmental impact. Once fully commissioned, the project will generate approximately 9,828.72 million units of electricity annually, contributing significantly towards meeting the nation’s growing power demand.
