New Delhi, 31 August 2026: EIL participated in the launch of MC²+ Ignite, a sector-specific accelerator programme focused on supporting deep-tech startups building technologies for India’s energy sector at IIT Madras.
The launch was graced by the esteemed presence of Shri Neeraj Mittal, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG), Govt. of India and Chairman, MC2 Foundation, along with leaders from India’s Oil & Gas sector and the innovation ecosystem.
Shri Atul Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director (C&MD), EIL, was part of this landmark gathering that brought together the collective strengths of India’s energy PSUs, academia and the startup environment.
MC²+ (Multiply, Collaborate, Create) is a common platform to bring together the problem statements, expertise, mentorship, funding and market access of India’s Oil & Gas PSUs, while creating a direct interface with leading academic and research institutions and deep-tech startups. MC²+ Ignite will support startups through a well-designed accelerator program, where access to capital, infrastructure, technical expertise, mentorship, pilot opportunities and industry interfaces will be provided under one umbrella. Through MC2+ Ignite, the endeavour is to identify and nurture the next generation of energy innovators and provide a bridge between deep-tech startups and leading academic and research institutions.
MC²+ Ignite will support approximately 30 startups through a structured acceleration programme, providing access to capital, infrastructure, technical expertise, mentorship, pilot opportunities and industry interfaces. Selected startups will be eligible for up to ₹2 crore in milestone-linked convertible funding.
For EIL, the initiative resonates strongly with a zeal to innovate, help deep-tech entrepreneurship and lead India on its energy transition path, while furthering the larger vision of indigenizing technologies and marketing them globally.
