Lucknow, 30 August 2026: A foundation stone was laid for the construction of a Modern Crematorium Facility at the Lucknow Cantonment Board, in a ceremony graced by Shri Rajnath Singh, Hon’ble Raksha Mantri (Defence Minister of India).
The event was attended by Shri Yogi Adityanath, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Manoj Jain, Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), along with Senior officials from DGDE and MoD including elected public representatives of the govt.
The project is being funded by Bharat Electronics Limited as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
The upcoming facility has been envisioned as more than a functional space — it is designed to serve as a sanctuary for remembrance, reflection, and healing for grieving families.
Rooted in cultural sensitivity and compassion, the crematorium reflects a commitment to dignified last rites while addressing the community’s evolving needs.
This initiative forms part of the broader development plan for the Lucknow Cantonment Board, reinforcing BEL’s continued commitment to community welfare and infrastructure development in the region.
