New Delhi, 27 April 2026: The Coal India organised a workshop on the electrification of mining dumpers and trucks at our corporate headquarters in Kolkata. Addressing the gathering virtually from Dhanbad, Director (Technical), Shri Achyut Ghatak, stated that the electrification of mining machinery will support our efforts to reduce the use of fossil fuels in mining operations.

He further highlighted that an electric fleet would help lower operational costs and emphasised the need for collaborative efforts among manufacturers, academia, and Coal India to develop machines in line with the requirements of mining operations.

The workshop, aimed at encouraging the manufacturing and deployment of electric dumpers and trucks, aligns with Coal India’s vision of becoming a net-zero company and promoting sustainable and eco-friendly mining practices.

The workshop witnessed participation from senior officials of our corporate headquarters and subsidiaries, manufacturers of dumpers and trucks, and representatives from the Centre of Excellence for Zero Emission Trucking at IIT Madras.
