New Delhi, 14 July 2026: Following the successful test synchronization of Units 1 and 2 of the 510 MW Teesta-V Power Station in Sikkim with the national grid on July 12, 2026, NHPC resumed commercial power generation from both units (170 MW each) at 5:00 PM on July 13, 2026.
Earlier, on July 11, 2026, Shri Diwakar Nath Mishra, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Power, Government of India, and Shri Bhupendra Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), NHPC, inaugurated the newly installed Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) at the power station. Senior NHPC officials present on the occasion included Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects); Shri Suprakash Adhikari, Director (Technical); Shri Jitendra Kumar, Head of Teesta-V Power Station (Executive Director); Shri Sudhir Kumar Yadav, Executive Director (NHPC Regional Office, Siliguri); Shri Indradev Prasad Ranjan, Executive Director (O&M); and Shri Umesh Kumar Nand, Executive Director (PMSG).
Shri Bhupendra Gupta, CMD, NHPC, appreciated the progress of the restoration work at the Teesta-V Power Station. He guided the team to complete the remaining work and restart the final unit of the power station soon, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence. He expressed confidence that the power station would contribute significantly to the generation of clean, green, and reliable hydroelectric power with outstanding performance.
