New Delhi, 17 June 2026: Oil India Limited signs a collaboration framework with The Petroleum Technology Research Centre, a not-for-profit energy research company of the Province of Saskatchewan of Canada in the fields of CO2 Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS), Geothermal, development of Clean Energy Technologies and research interests with mc2+ for start-ups, a platform created under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India.
The event was attended by The Premier of Saskatchewan Hon’ble Scott Moe, His Excellency the High Commissioner of India to Canada; CEO, PTRC; CMD, OIL, and other senior officials, at the Global Energy Show 2026 in Calgary.
The domains of collaborations include the following:
– Utilization of captured CO2, both related to permanent storage through geological sequestration and mineralization in geological formations.
– Innovative enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods to help lessen the environmental impacts and energy use of oil/gas production.
– Working with established networks and partners specific to each of OIL and PTRC to identify business opportunities in both countries.
– Identification of potential geothermal projects of mutual interest to study and participate.
– Collaborative research by both OIL and PTRC’s Energy Innovation Hub lab on projects involving subsurface energy production and subsurface storage.
– Collaborative research interests with mc2+ for start-ups, a platform created under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India.
