Lucknow, 16 January 2026: NTPC Unchahar celebrated Makar Sankranti with great enthusiasm and vibrant participation bringing together employees and their families in a joyous festive atmosphere. The celebration was organised by the Sports Council.
The programme was graced by Shri Biswa Mohan Singh, Head of Project, NTPC Unchahar, as the Chief Guest in the gracious presence of Shri Ashutosh Biswas, GM (O&M), Shri D. K. Sahu, GM (Operations), and Shri S. U. Haridas, GM (Maintenance). Smt. Jhumita Biswas, Vice President, Priyadarshini Ladies Club, also extended her support to the event.
A variety of traditional and recreational activities were organised for all age groups. The kite flying competition filled the skies with colourful kites, symbolising festivity and joy. Traditional games such as Marble Kanche, Pitthu, and Musical Chair brought a sense of excitement. The Tug of War competition emerged as a major attraction with energetic participation. A special Musical Chair competition was also organised for SMC members.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 550 employees and family members, making it a truly inclusive celebration. In keeping with the tradition of Makar Sankranti, Khichdi was served to all participants. Winners of various competitions were felicitated with prizes, acknowledging their spirited participation and sportsmanship.
The Makar Sankranti Celebration at Unchahar not only marked the harvest festival but also strengthened camaraderie among employees and their families, reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to cultural values, employee engagement, and collective well-being.
