New Delhi, 17 December 2025: The Nuclear Fuel Complex, an industrial unit of Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) in Hyderabad, signed an augmented MoU with Metal & Steel Factory, Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India. Leveraging MSF’s state-of-the-art CNC-controlled radial forging technology, the collaboration aims to enhance production of high-precision forging of zirconium alloy ingots for pressure tubes used in Indian 220 MWe and 700 MWe PHWRs.
With growing requirements from operating and under-construction nuclear reactors, and the upcoming fleet mode projects, the annual forging capacity under the MoU has been enhanced from 80 tonnes to 200 tonnes. The MoU was signed by Dr. Komal Kapoor, Chairman & CE, NFC, and Shri Kundan Singh, IOFS, Executive Director, MSF. The development shall ensure uninterrupted supply of critical pressure tubes, reinforcing India’s commitment to robust and indigenous nuclear infrastructure.
