Kolkata, 03 November 2025: The Competent Authority has appointed Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha, IAS, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal as Chairman Coal India Limited (Additional Charge) for three months or until regular incumbent appointed.
Shri Sanoj Kumar Jha is a seasoned civil servant with over 28 years of distinguished service in public administration. Throughout his illustrious career, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and governance acumen across diverse sectors including rural development, commerce & industry, power, mines & geology, tourism, and food processing.
He brings with him a rich and varied experience in public policy, project implementation, human resource management, and regulatory affairs.
An alumnus of the University of Delhi, Mr. Jha holds a Master’s in Public Policy & Management from King’s College London (UK) and another master’s-level degree from the Indian School of Business.
