New Delhi, 25 June 2026: ONGC Green Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of ONGC, and NHPC Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly explore and develop Pumped Hydro Storage and other renewable energy projects, marking the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership.
Often described as the “water battery” of the power sector, pumped storage enables large-scale, long-duration energy storage, strengthens grid stability and facilitates greater integration of renewable energy.
Bringing together NHPC’s proven hydropower expertise and ONGC Green’s project execution capabilities and energy-transition ambitions, the collaboration will support India’s energy security and help build a cleaner, more resilient energy ecosystem.
The partnership further strengthens OGL’s journey towards achieving 10 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030 and ONGC’s Net Zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions target by 2038.
