Hon’ble Minister of Power Highlighted India’s Strong Power Sector Growth at Ministerial Conference

New Delhi, 21 March 2026: At the State Power Ministerial Conference, the Hon’ble Minister of Power highlighted India’s strong power sector growth—over 520 GW installed capacity, a 52% non-fossil energy share achieved ahead of 2030 targets, and power supply steadily progressing towards 24×7 nationwide.

He also launched the Consumer Service Rating of DISCOMs (CSRD) and Distribution Utilities Ranking (DUR) Report for FY 2024–25 by REC. With DISCOMs turning around—₹2,701 crore profit and dues reduced by 97%—the focus now shifts to deep structural reforms, digitalisation, and improved governance.

Over 20 crore smart meters have been installed, driving efficiency and transparency. Highlighting the Summit as a premier platform, he emphasised the critical role of renewables, pumped storage, transmission, and a 100 GW nuclear target by 2047 in meeting rising demand and ensuring energy security.

Guided by the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India’s power sector will be a key driver of sustainable economic growth.
