Talcher, 14 May 2025: NTPC Talcher Thermal proudly inaugurated its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the “Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) 2025”, reaffirming its commitment to inclusive development and the empowerment of young girls in rural communities.
The one-month-long residential initiative aims to transform the lives of 40 young girls from eight government schools across four Gram Panchayats by providing them access to quality education, healthcare, life skills training, and structured mentorship.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Sh. Arindam Sinha, Regional Executive Director (Eastern Region-II), and Smt. Rupali Sinha, President, Vasudha Mahila Mandal, alongside Shri Vijay Chand, Executive Director, NTPC Talcher Thermal, Smt. Vibha Agarwal, President, Sagarika Ladies Club, and other distinguished dignitaries from NTPC and the local administration.
The event also featured cultural performances by students from nearby government schools, showcasing local talent and reinforcing the inclusive spirit of the program.
Speaking at the occasion, Shri Vijay Chand stated:
“Talcher Thermal remains steadfast in its mission to empower and uplift girls from our neighboring communities. Over the last few years, we have positively impacted the lives of around 250 girls, with an additional 40 set to benefit through GEM 2025. We believe that through focused efforts like this, we can build a more equitable and inclusive society—one where every girl has the opportunity to grow, lead, and thrive.”
Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Sh. Arindam Sinha said:
